Integrations

Your agents, Shortcuts and scripts can reach what Devbroom knows. None of them cleans on its own: agents' requests and links come to you in the app, and devbroom clean shows first and asks.

It's all in Settings › Agents and integrations. First link the command line tool as ~/.local/bin/devbroom with “Link devbroom”; MCP and Raycast use it.

MCP for agents

devbroom mcp is an MCP server that talks to the agent that started it, on this Mac. It never opens to the network. It offers three tools:

Tool What it does
devbroom_status Reads the app's last scan; doesn't scan again.
devbroom_check Says whether a folder can be deleted and why. Accepts only paths inside the folders you chose.
devbroom_request_cleanup Asks to clean one or more folders, with a reason. The request comes to you in the app. Nothing is cleaned until you confirm, and every item is checked again after you do.

The command line and MCP are free. To add it to your agent:

Claude Code
$ claude mcp add --scope user devbroom -- ~/.local/bin/devbroom mcp
Codex · ~/.codex/config.toml
[mcp_servers.devbroom]command = "/Users/<user>/.local/bin/devbroom"args = ["mcp"]tool_timeout_sec = 180
Cursor · ~/.cursor/mcp.json
{ "mcpServers": { "devbroom": { "command": "/Users/<user>/.local/bin/devbroom", "args": ["mcp"] } } }

Settings › Agents and integrations fills these lines in with the path on your Mac.

Devbroom knows three links. They only open the app; the cleanup waits for you.

Link What it does
devbroom://scan Scans again.
devbroom://clean Opens the cleanup preview for what's Ready.
devbroom://open Opens the app. With ?tab=storage, worktrees or sessions it goes to that tab.

Any other link is ignored. Use them in Shortcuts with the Open URLs action, or from Raycast.

For scripts

devbroom status --json gives the app's last scan: how much is ready, when it was scanned and the biggest Ready items. It doesn't scan again. Details on the Command line page.

Analytics

Analytics shows how agent data grows and what Devbroom cleaned: free space on this Mac, what was cleaned this year and what's still in the Trash, growth over the last 30 days, what grows fastest, growth by agent, and agent sessions' token counts with their estimated cost at API list prices. It's built from each scan's summary; the chart shows up after three scans. All of it stays on your Mac. Analytics comes with Pro.

For organizations

An organization can set some of Devbroom's behavior with a configuration profile (MDM) in the com.devbroom.desktop domain. Only values the profile enforces count; the app shows them as locked and the user can't change them. The app and the command line read them again every time they run.

Key What it does
ProtectedPaths Folders Devbroom will never suggest cleaning, on top of the user's own protections.
ProtectedNames Folder names never suggested for cleaning, wherever they are.
AllowPermanentDelete false: moving to the Trash only. Deleting permanently and emptying the Trash are turned off in the app and on the command line.
AllowCommandLineClean false: devbroom clean doesn't run; scanning does.
AllowAgentRequests false: cleanup requests from agents through devbroom mcp aren't accepted; reading works.

This is a policy for Devbroom, not a security boundary: the user can still delete files by hand. For a team license, write to us.
